XILINX OPENS TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT SITE IN ALBUQUERQUE 
New facility to accommodate expanding workforce

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, January 26, 2001— Anticipating continued growth, Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated Albuquerque facility. The $6 million, 45,000 square foot facility will accommodate the company's plans to more than double the current workforce of 67 employees. The Albuquerque center will focus on the design and development of Xilinx CPLD and FPGA Intellectual Property. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., Xilinx employs more than 2,600 people worldwide. 

"By developing our growth throughout the world, we can offer our employees more choices and opportunities to work outside of Silicon Valley," said Xilinx president and CEO Wim Roelandts. "With its emerging presence in the technology sector and diverse community, Albuquerque is an ideal location for our employees to work and raise a family."

The expansion follows the 1999 acquisition of  Philips Semiconductors' CoolRunner? line of low-power CPLDs. Xilinx has since expanded the site to include FPGA IP development. The CoolRunner line is the first family of CPLD products to combine very low power with high speed, high density and high I/O counts in a single device. 

Xilinx has also expanded its "Be a Champion for Change" community-giving initiative to benefit Albuquerque schools and charities. Recent grant recipients include Comanche Elementary and the University of New Mexico Children's Hospital.
