XILINX OPENS SALES OFFICE IN ISRAEL WEYBRIDGE, UK, May 22, 2000—Xilinx Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced the opening of its seventh sales office in the region of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In order to enhance the support of the programmable logic device market in Israel, forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 35 percent, Xilinx is opening a local sales office in Tel-Aviv. In the coming months, Xilinx Israel will add local technical support. Israel represents a significant portion of the European programmable logic market and plays a major role in the world-wide telecommunications and high-end consumer markets. Both are focus markets for Xilinx programmable logic. The opening of the new Xilinx Israel office coincides with the recent introduction of the VirtexTM-EM FPGAs and today's unveiling of new Virtex-II FPGA architecture. The Virtex families provide the best system-level design features and benefits to be found in programmable logic, across a wide range of different family members with densities up to 10 million system-gates. Data-intensive systems, such as Internet infrastructure products and voice and video processing systems are expected to be the main users of these devices. Uriel "Uri" Basanov has been appointed regional sales manager for Israel. Basanov reports directly to David Ryan, senior sales director for Xilinx EMEA. Prior to joining Xilinx, Basanov held various positions at DSP Group, Inc., including North American sales manager for core technology. Prior to that, Basanov held various sales and marketing positions in Israel at a sales representative company, where he was responsible for Lucent Microelectronics. The existing sales structure will remain unchanged in Israel, where Xilinx will continue to be represented through EIM International Ltd.
