XILINX PURCHASES LAVALOGIC

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 10, 2000 —Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced it has acquired LavaLogic, a developer of synthesis technology built around the Java and C++ programming languages.

LavaLogic, based in Columbia, Maryland, was a business unit of TSI Telsys Corp., a publicly traded Canadian company. Under the agreement, Xilinx acquired LavaLogic's Forge software-to-hardware compiler, which is currently under development.  All LavaLogic employees have accepted positions with Xilinx and will join the company's existing team of synthesis engineers.

"Synthesis technology is becoming more and more important as the densities of our FPGAs move toward tens of millions of gates and the level of system integration increases in complexity," said Rich Sevcik, senior vice president of IP, services and software at Xilinx. "This acquisition will strengthen our capability to deliver the advanced design tools our customers require."
