XILINX EXPANDS QPRO LINE
OF AEROSPACE-DEFENSE PRODUCTS
WITH LARGEST QML CERTIFIED FPGA
AND ONE MBIT CONFIGURATION PROM

SAN JOSE, Calif., August 26, 1999—Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced the availability of the largest QML certified 3.3-volt FPGA, the 180,000 system gate XQ4085XL device. The company also announced it is shipping QML versions of its one Mbit, 3.3-volt serial configuration PROM, the XQ1701L, to program FPGAs. The products are the latest additions to the Xilinx QPRO family of QML products, which are targeted at designers of aerospace and defense electronic systems.

"Designers of 3.3-volt aerospace and defense systems are looking for programmable logic devices with more and more gate density. The Xilinx XQ4085XL FPGA provides ample logic plus RAM that will allow them to integrate more functionality into a single device," said Howard Bogrow, marketing manager for Aerospace and Defense Products for Xilinx. "Our high-end FPGAs are becoming the central 'ASIC' in aerospace and defense designs, integrating various core logic functions into a single chip. For this reason we will continue to qualify even larger, higher performance devices for these markets."

The Xilinx product roadmap also calls for radiation hardened versions of its configuration PROMs to complement the company's existing offerings of rad-hard FPGAs.

The 100-piece prices for the XQ4085XL FPGA are $1,508 for the plastic quad flat pack and $2,714 for the ceramic quad flat pack and pin grid packages.

The 100-piece prices for the XQ1701L configuration PROM are $159 for the CC44 ceramic package and $39.70 for an SO20 plastic package. Both are available to military temperature grade. SMD versions are also available to drawing 5962-99514.

Xilinx is one of fewer than 30 suppliers in the world to receive Qualified Manufacturer Listing, or QML. As a QML supplier, Xilinx is able to bring state-of-the-art, military grade products to market faster because the company's world class processes and materials have been qualified in advance, eliminating the need to qualify individual products or production lots. Because of this, Xilinx is able to offer parallel availability of the latest, highest performance products to its commercial and military-aerospace customers. Xilinx QPRO FPGAs are used in a wide variety of high integrity applications, such as radars, missile guidance and targeting, electronic countermeasures and avionics.

Xilinx has been serving the military and aerospace market for more than a decade and provides customers with continuity of supply, specialized products and guaranteed mask and process controls that are unmatched by any other programmable logic manufacturer. The QPRO brand name reflects the Xilinx commitment to QML, performance, reliability of supply and off-the-shelf products.

Xilinx is the leading innovator of complete programmable logic solutions, including advanced integrated circuits, software design tools, predefined system functions delivered as cores, and unparalleled field engineering support. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in San Jose, Calif., Xilinx invented the field programmable gate array (FPGA) and fulfills more than half of the world demand for these devices today. Xilinx solutions enable customers to reduce significantly the time required to develop products for the computer, peripheral, telecommunications, networking, industrial control, instrumentation, high-reliability/military, and consumer markets.
