(NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced full support of the entire Spartan^®-II FPGA family as well as the 300,000 system gate Virtex^™ XCV300E FPGA in the WebPACK ISE^™ tool suite.  The free downloadable software, previously available only for Xilinx CPLDs, now offers a zero-cost-of-entry point for designing with Xilinx FPGAs.

The WebPACK ISE suite provides the flexibility to choose which software best fits design requirements by providing both individual module download and InstallFromTheWeb^™ technology for fast error-free installation via the Internet. WebPACK ISE is an Integrated Synthesis Environment^™, which includes VHDL, Verilog and ABEL synthesis, HDL simulation and test vector generation within a HDL centric project navigation system. Xilinx incorporates this with the industry’s fastest implementation technology with proven productivity enhancement tools and full JTAG programming and bitstream generation. 

FPGA support in WebPACK ISE
The Spartan-II family of 2.5V FPGAs provides densities ranging from 15,000 to 200,000 system gates. An array of features such as SelectRAM^™ memory, on-board Delay Locked Loops (DLLs), and SelectI/O^™ provide unparalleled performance for system-level design using programmable logic. For designs that may require higher system integration features, Xilinx has also added support for the Virtex XCV300E FPGA. 

WebPACK ISE availability
The next release of WebPACK ISE, V3.2i WP1.0, which contains the added FPGA support of Spartan-II and the Virtex XCV300E device is scheduled for release in mid-October 2000.
