PROMS: How to program a 'D' type prom from a different type master prom with a HW-112
Record #138
Product Family: Hardware Urgency: Low General Description: How to program a 'D' type prom from a master prom of a different type Solution 1: Using XPP (3.31 or later) and the HW-112 programmer, it is possible to program the new 'D' proms from an existing 'A' master prom, provided they are the same size prom. The procedure is as follows: 1) Load the 'A' device into the HW-112 programmer. 2) Load the 'A' device driver, then read the contents of the 'A' device and write it to a file using RBT file format. ( This is #3 under option 6 in XPP. 2) Change the device driver to the 'D' part. 3) load the blank D prom into the HW-112 programmer and program the device from the .RBT file just created. A similar method could be used to program a 'D' part from a standard ( non- 'A' or 'D' ) prom. Limitations: Both PROMs need to be the same size--e.g., a 1736A can be used to program a 1736D, but not a 1765 End of Record #138 - Last Modified: 03/22/99 20:03 |
