BBS - What to do about 'transfer aborted' messages

Record #282

Problem Title:
BBS - What to do about 'transfer aborted' messages

Problem Description:

Solution 1:

The Xilinx BBS will issue a "transfer aborted" error when attempting
to retreive a file if you do not give a receive command from the
communications software after initiating the download.

"Transfer aborted" errors can also mean that the file transfer protocol
the user selected on his end didn't match up with the one he selected
on the BBS (for example, XModem-CRC is not the same as XModem Checksum),
or the line was excessively noisy, causing the connection to drop.

If the user's modem is connected at 9600 baud or higher, the flow
control setting in their communications software (Procomm, for example)
should be set to OFF or RTS/CTS (hardware flow control), not XON/XOFF,
which would be software flow control.
