Possible cause of XSIMMAKE 5.0 ERROR 7 (sh: 17067 Memory fault - core dumped)

Record #529

Product Family: Software

Product Line: XACT FPGA

Product Part: xsimmake

Product Version: 5.2

Problem Title:
Possible cause of XSIMMAKE 5.0 ERROR 7 (sh: 17067 Memory fault - core dumped)

Problem Description:
On some designs, XDRAW does not correctly draw the simulation schematic.
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Possible cause of XSimMake ERROR 7

XSIMMAKE COMMAND : check -p sdesign

sh: 17067 Memory fault - core dumped

ERROR 7: Command [check -p sdesign ] failed to execute properly.

When running XSIMMAKE on a ViewLogic design, XSIMMAKE fails after running
XDRAW, during check, producing the above error message.

On some designs, XDRAW does not correctly draw the simulation schematic.
The call to check -p following XDRAW will stop XSIMMAKE with a memory fault
and then Error 7. This occurs most often with "four way intersections" or
other unusual net/bus routing.
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Possible cause of XSimMak

Solution 1:

Open the simulation schematic and look for missing or unconnected nets.
Redraw the offending sections of the original design and then rerun XSimMake.
