Problem Title:
XC4000/E: How to install the 4025 and 4025E data files for the XACT 5.2.1/6.0.1 software from the CD-ROM (workstation and PC)

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

Description

The 4025 and 4025E device files were purposely ommitted from
the typical Xilinx XACT 5.2.1/6.0.1 software because the
designer generally needs more software and device knowlege in
order to target this large device. It is generally recommended
that the local FAE is contacted so that he may suggest some
general designing methodology in order to achieve better device
utilization as well as performance.

If a local Xilinx FAE is not availible to assist in the installation of these files, they may be ins talled from the XACT 5.2.1/6.0.1 CD-ROM.

Solution 1:

How to install the 4025 and 4025E data files from the XACT 5.2.1 CD-ROM for workstations.

1. Mount the XACT 5.2.1 CD-ROM (if CD is not already mounted) in
order to access the files from the disk.
     cdmount -m

2. Go to the xdata sub-directory from the root of the cd-rom.
     cd <cd-rom>/xdata

3. Copy all 4025 files and the updated partlist to a temprorary
     directory.
     cp 4025*.zip ~/temp
     cp part25_0.zip ~/temp

4. Unzip all files in the current temperoary directory using UNIX
unzip or related command. If you do not have UNIX unzip, then
this may be done from a PC using pkunzip.
     unzip <filename>

5. Copy all uncompressed files to the $XACT/data directory.
     cp -r data $XACT

6. You should now be able to select and target all 4025 and 4025E
designs. If you have any problems with this please contact your
local Xilinx FAE or the Xilinx Technical Support Hotline.

*** Note : There are updated 4025e-2 speed files availible from the
Xilinx Customer FTP site. To access these files :

1. Enter the following address in your FTP client : ftp.xilinx.com
If using Netscape or WWW browser, skip steps 3 and 4 and enter :
     ftp://customer@ftp.xilinx.com/download/4025espd.tar.ZInternet Link

2. Login : customer
     Password : xilinx

3. Goto to the dowload directory.

4. Download the file 4025espd.tar.Z. The directory listing will
not be availible so the name must be specified in order to
recieve this file. The filename is also case sensitive.

Solution 2:

How to install the 4025 and 4025E data files from the XACT 5.2.1/6.0.1 CD-ROM for PCs.

1. Insert the XACT 5.2.1/6.0.1 CD-ROM into the PC.

2. Go to the xdata\data sub-directory from the root of the cd-rom.
     <cd-rom drive letter>:
     cd \xdata\data

3. Copy all files in this directory to the <XACT>\data directory.
     copy *.* c:/xact/data

4. You should now be able to select and target all 4025 and 4025E
     designs.

*** If you notice a DOS Error #83 error message when in either
ProFlow or XACT Design Manager after installing these files then
     do the following :
        a) Backup the <xact path>\data\partlist.xct file
           copy partlist.xct partlist.bak
        b) Open the <xact path>\data\partlist.xct file with an
           editor or word processor.
        c) Without making any changes to the file, re-save the
file in text format to the same name, partlist.xct.
This should hopefully reformat the file to standard DOS
           file conventions.

*** If you have any problems with this please contact your
local Xilinx FAE or the Xilinx Technical Support Hotline.
