Urgency:
Many Xilinx device families are supersets of another Xilinx
family, and can often use the bitstream of the subset family
to configure. Though in most cases the subset family cannot use the bitstream of the superset famil
y.
Also bitstream compatability does not imply that the design
will work in the superset device. Xilinx recommends rerunningtiming simulations for the superset de
vice to gurantee
functionality.
Solution 1:
Bitstream compatibility is the following:
3000 bitstream may be downloaded to 3000A
3000 bitstream may be downloaded to 3100
3000 bitstream may be downloaded to 3100A
3100 bitstream may be downloaded to 3100A
3000A bitstream may be downloaded to 3100A
However, any other combination cannot happen.
Solution 2:
The XC3000A is a superset of the XC3000 family. Therefore
any bitstream used to configure a XC3000, XC3100, XC3000L,
XC3100L or XC3100A device configures a XC3000A device the same way.
The XC3000L is also a superset of the XC3000 family.
Therefore any bitstream used to configure a XC3000, XC3100, XC3100L, XC3000A, or XC3100A device conf
igures a XC3000L device
the same way.
