XNFMERGE: how does it recognize what is a primitive vs. what is a macro in an XNF file?

Record #1954

Product Family: Software

Product Line: XACT FPGA

Product Part: xnfmerge

Problem Title:
XNFMERGE: how does it recognize what is a primitive vs. what is a macro in an XNF file?

Problem Description:
Urgency: standard

General description:

How does XNFMERGE recognize what is a primitive
vs. what is a macro in an XNF file?

Solution 1:

XNFMERGE has built-in knowledge of which DEVICE types (in the
context of an XNF SYM record) are primitives, and which are
macros. If a SYM record contains a DEVICE record that
references something other than an element in its known
primitive table, XNFMERGE assumes that this is a macro, and
expects to find an XNF file for it.
