M1 MAP: Running map with -os area may yield a larger implementation than with -oe normal![]() Record #2260
Product Family: Software M1 MAP: Running map with -os area may yield a larger implementation than with -oe normal Problem Description: Urgency: Hot General Description: Running map with the -os area option may result in a larger implementation than when running with the default -oe normal option. Solution 1: The -os optimization options in the M1.3 Mapper do not guarantee that you will always get a better result than processing a design without optimization. In general, the -os options will tend to give you better results when used in conjunction with tools such as Metamor and ABEL logic synthesis, since these tools do not do any FPGA-specific lookup table optimization. If you find that -os area is gives you a larger implementation than -oe normal, you should simply reprocess the design with the default settings. End of Record #2260 - Last Modified: 04/30/99 17:05 |
