"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shutdown. If the problem persists, please contact the program vendor" This issue is primarily seen on pre-OSR2 versions of Windows 95. You can confirm the version used by entering an MS-DOS session for Windows 95 and typing VER. Windows 95 B (OSR2) will return: 4.00.1111 Older Windows 95 versions will return: 4.00.950 Solution 1: This issue can be solved by installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (or 4.01). You do no actually have to use this software to fix the problem. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/iebuild/ie4sp1_win32/en/18174.htm to install Internet Explorer 4.01.
