Problem Description:

General Description:
Upon invoking the Design Manager, you may receive the following error
message:
Wind/U Error (192): X-Resource: DefaultGUIFontSpec (-bitstream-swiss
42-medium-r-normal--19-140-85-85-p-110-hp-roman8) does not fully
specify a font set for this locale.
This message may be seen in instances when a font specification has
not been defined properly, or the eXceed emulator has been used.
The symptoms, besides the msg. itself, are usually
graphical (i.e - text apears too small to read or select)
The following are some suggestions/workarounds (3):
Solution 1:
It has been reported that the following command also seems
to eliminate the problem:
% xrdb -remove
However, this has not been tested in the factory, and we are not
certain if this will cause any problems to other software products.
Solution 2:
If the eXceed emulator was used, the suggestion is to turn this
feature off and run the S/W directly on the WS platform.
NOTE: The eXceed emulator is not a supported product, nor has any
quality assurance taken place with respect to this product and any
Xilinx software release.
Solution 3:
Type in the following command line:
% xfontsel
to invoke your Font Selector. The recommendation is to edit your
font specifications, noted as the uiedit*XmList*fontList variable
in your .Xdefault file, and then type the following (or reboot) for
the changes to take affect:
% Xrdb -merge .Xdefault
For reference, here's an example of an .Xdefault file that works:
