Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General Description:

In attempting to start the Flow Engine, the implementation
tool returns a dialog box titled "Flow Engine", which
contains the following:

Error in reading flow definition file; unable to continue

Selecting the OK button returns one of the following:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

or

Dr. Watson for Windows NT (application error)




Solution 1:

Each device (xc3000, xc4000, etc..) contains a corresponding data directory,
within which an appropriate flow definition file (flow.dfn) is found.

i.e: $XILINX/xc3000/data/flow.dfn
      $XILINX/xc4000/data/flow.dfn ...

The above mentioned message occurs if the flow.dfn file is
not found for the respective family, or has been corrupted in some way.

Replace missing/corrupted files with those found on the Design Implementation Tools CD.

1. Search for all *.dfn files on the Design Implementation CD
2. Copy each flow.dfn file into its respective
    $XILINX/<device>/data directory
3. Re-start implementation
