Record #4266

Problem Title:
A1.4 Par - Use of -m (use multiple nodes) requires that "ping" command be available in path.

Problem Description:
Urgency: standard

General description:
When PAR is run with the Turns Engine option (-m) it will fail if the
command "ping" is not found in the user's path statement. The ping
command is needed to verify that the nodes specified by the user for
running remote jobs, are available on the network.

Solution 1:

PAR will be enhanced in version A2.1 so that if ping is not found
in the user's path, it will assume /usr/sbin/ping for Solaris machines.
