Record #4288

Product Family: Hardware

Product Line: 9500

Product Part: 9500

Problem Title:
CPLD: XC9500/XL Programming: Write Security can be overriden in JTAG Programmer but not Hw-130 or third party programmer.

Problem Description:

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
Can a write secured device be erased?

Solution 1:

For JTAG, used very often for prototyping, the device
can be erased and reprogrammed if the "override write
protect" option is selected when doing an erase on
the 9500/XL. Customers requested this feature as during
prototyping they may need to try a number of designs.

For the HW-130, used most often for production programming,
the device cannot be erased after the write protect
is selected.
