Foundation 1.5 Install: Space required by installer may be inaccurate

Record #4525

Product Family: Software

Product Line: M1 Graphical/General

Product Part: Install

Product Version: 1.5

Problem Title:
Foundation 1.5 Install: Space required by installer may be inaccurate

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General Description:
The disk space requirements listed by the F1.5 install program are pessimistic. The calculations are based on the maximum sector size available within the file system used, and that sector size may be larger than what is actually being
used on the target drive.

The install program does not have the capability to determine target drive
sector size.

Solution 1:

Realize that the numbers reported are inflated. To see how much drive space
was actually used, open Explorer, right click on the FNDTN directory and select Properties.

If you would like to reduce the size of a Foundation install, do not simply
delete directories, as required files may be deleted accidently. The
recommended procedure is to uninstall and then reinstall, selecting fewer
components.
