Problem Title:
Design Manager M1.5i: Setting up your Web Browser Preferences so that multiple browsers are
not invoked (Workstation ONLY)
Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard
The M1.5i (Performance Pack) release features the ability to
connect to a Web Browser from the Design Manager. With the
click of a mouse button, you can now directly have your
default web browser invoked when attempting to access
either the Xilinx Home Page or the Service & Support page
from the submenu 'Xilinx on the Web' under Help.
The following solution gives you the ability to setup your
Web Browser Preferences so that multiple browsers are not
invoked.
Solution 1:
For Netscape Navigator on a Workstation environment ONLY:
If you currently have a browser up and running when you select
Help->Xilinx on the Web-> <you choice of menu items>, you will
get prompted on whether or not you would like another browser
window to be invoked. Selecting "OK" will invoke another
browser window.
If you would like to change this default behavior so that your
currently opened browser window is retained with the new URL
setting you selected, follow these steps:
1) Within Design Manager, select File->Preferences
2) Type in the following for the Web Browser field:
netscape -remote openURL(%1) -raise
3) Click OK once to save this setting, then again to bypass warning
Now when Netscape Navigator is invoked, it does not open a new
window, but instead detects and consequently connects to the
already existing process. For more information on this, please
refer to (http://home.netscape.com/newsref/std/x-remote.html )
