NGDANNO 1.5: FATAL_ERROR:basut:basutblist.c:348:1.2-Maximum iterator count exceeded

Record #5158

Product Family: Software

Product Line: FPGA Implementation

Product Part: ngdbuild

Product Version: 1.5i

Problem Title:
NGDANNO 1.5: FATAL_ERROR:basut:basutblist.c:348:1.2-Maximum iterator count exceeded

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General Description: When running ngdanno with the following
command line:
ngdanno -p <name>.pcf <name>.ncd <name>.ngm
the following error may be observed:
FATAL_ERROR:basut:basutblist.c:348:1.2 - Maximimum iterator
count exceeded. Please call Xilinx support.

Solution 1:

The workaround is to run ngdanno without using the .pcf file if it is
not needed. as stated below:

From Dynatext->Developement System Reference Guide->
Chapter 15 NGDAnno-> NGDAnno options->

-p (PCF File)
-p pcf_file.pcf
The -p option allows you to specify a PCF (Physical Constraints) file
as input to NGDAnno. You only need to specify a constraints file if it
contains the following:

--Level information (CMOS or TTL) for IOBs in a 4000E or 4000EX design
--Prorating constraints

Prorating constraints and prorated delays are described in the
"OFFSET Timing Specifications" section of the "Using Timing Constraints"
chapter.
