Product Version: 2.1i

Problem Title:
2.1i Security: Setting up a Node-Locked license.

Problem Description:
Urgency: Hot

General Description: Following are instructions on how to set
up a Node-Locked License.

Solution 1:

1) Obtain a HOST-ID.
    The following are valid HOST-IDs:
    - C drive serial number. (Must be C)
    - IP address.
    - value returned from lmutil lmhostid.
       http://www.globetrotter.com/chap7.htm#7.5Internet Link

2) Register software and obtain a full license.
New users should register their software and obtain a full
license from customer service. To do this, customers can call
1-800-624-4782. If you have already registered, you can
obtain a license from the web at
    http://www.xilinx.com/support/license.htm
Before calling please have your serial number and HOST-ID
ready. Be sure to specify that you want a Node-Locked
    (vs. Floating) License.

3) Save the license file to your local drive. You can save the
new license file under any name to any place on your local
drive but we suggest the following (to prevent the need to
modify system variables). By default their was a demo license
copied into the xilinx tree during the install. To find its
location check where the LM_LICENSE_FILE points. Find the
demo license.dat and either rename/remove it. Now save the
new license file as license.dat where this demo license was
originally. Now you should be ready to go. If you are having
problems please see solution 5331 at
    http://www.xilinx.com/techdocs/5331.htm

4) You must now modify your LM_LICENSE_FILE system variable to
point to the new license file. Let's say you saved the file
as xilinx.lic and you put it in the following directory
c:\xilinx\flexlm . Change your variable to read
    LM_LICENSE_FILE=c:\xilinx\flexlm\xilinx.lic

5) Reboot your machine (even on NT).

If you are having problems please see solution 5331 at
