General Description: When a specific subtype (for example:)

subtype uword8 is unsigned(7 downto 0))

the following error occurs upon synthesis"

Error: can't find type information (.typ file) for filename RTLOGIC.RTLOGIC.UWORD8 (or whatever subtype it is)

Solution 1:

Use of subtypes is not supported at this time.
