M1.5/2.1i: Floorplanner: Unable to open fnf file F:\path_to\_fplan.fnf for reading

Record #6320

Product Family: Software

Product Line: Merged Core

Product Part: Floorplanner

Product Version: 2.1i

Problem Title:
M1.5/2.1i: Floorplanner: Unable to open fnf file F:\path_to\_fplan.fnf for reading

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General Description:
The following message can appear while opening a ngd and
routed ncd file via the pull down menus:
"Unable to open fnf file F:\path_to\_fplan.fnf for reading".

Solution 1:

This message is very misleading. The true cause of the
problem is that a particular product family/package has
not been installed. Opening the design for one
family/package that is not installed will also cause this
problem. Running n2f on the command line does give
a message that the family/package is not install, but
the Floorplanner GUI does not.

This will be fixed in a future release.

Solution 2:

This same error message can also appear if a user has
a file name or directory with spaces included in it (i.e -
C:\my project\flplabs\...).

The workaround is to remove the spaces from the path
or file name.
