Mentor: I can not check nor convert my old 4K (4000 non-E) schematic design to 4KE or 4KX using A1.5 or later Xilinx software

Problem Title:
Mentor: I can not check nor convert my old 4K (4000 non-E) schematic design to 4KE or 4KX using A1.5 or later Xilinx software

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General Description:

I have created a schematic using XC4000 non-E UNIFIED libraries with
pre-A1.5 Xilinx software. I am able to open the schematic in pld_da, but I
am unable to run "Check Design", nor am I able to run Convert Design, to
convert my design to a newer Xilinx technology such as the XC4000E,
or XC4000X family. Running "Check Design" I am getting messages
similiar to the following:

// Error: Could not determine current version of and2/part for instance I$1
// Error: Could not determine current version of bufg/part for instance I$2
// Error: Could not determine current version of cb2ce/part for instance I$3

And running Convert Design I am getting messages similiar to the following
in the transcript window:

  // Error: Library -->$LCA/xc4000/ does not exist . (from: Uims/base_toolkit/ui_session_tk 01

OR in the pld_da window I see:

Error: Library -->$LCA/xc4000/ does not exist

Solution 1:

This is due to the fact that in the A1.5 and later software the XC4000
library was removed due to library install size reasons. Also since the
silicon is no longer available the library was removed to deter any NEW
designs into the XC4000 (non-E) devices.

In order to run Convert Design you must have the XC4000 library
in the $LCA ($XILINX/mentor/data) area. This library can be downloaded
from the Xilinx ftp site:

(Xilinx File ftp://ftp.xilinx.com/pub/swhelp/mentor/xc4000.tar.ZInternet Link)

You must have write privelages into the $LCA directory in order to copy
these library files.
