General Description: How do I calculate the estimated Icc for my design
and target CoolRunner?


Solution 1:

Once the design has been compiled and fit to the target CoolRunner
device, follow these steps:

    1.Press the 'TimeSim...' button. This will invoke the timing simulator.
    2.Use the simulator to build up the stimulus file that your part will see
    in normal operation. Pay careful attention to clock frequency and
    actual signal bandwidth.
    3.Select ICC | Run from the menu bar to launch the Icc calculator.
    The results will be placed in a box on the bottom right corner of the
    simulator GUI. In addition, you may inspect a file that has been
    created called *.icc if you wish which contains Icc information at
    varying time points.

Please Note: This Icc value is an estimated average power consumption
based upon your design file and your simulation file.
