General Description:

Is there anyway to get foundation to make use of multiple
processors on my computer? Or is there a way to make
use of a network of computers to speed up place and routing?


Solution 1:

The M1 software does not currently support multi-threading for multiple
processor equipped machines. It is possible to spawn two Place & Route
operations (for different designs) and each process will run on a separate
processor, but this must be done manually from the DOS command line.

There are plans for multi-threading to be adopted, but there is no information
regarding a release date. It is also not possible to use multiple machines on
a network to increase the speed of a single Place & Route task.
