Record #7797

Product Family: Software

Product Line: M1 Graphical/General

Product Part: Prom File Formatter

Product Version: 2.1i

Problem Title:

2.1i:Prom File Formatter - The size of your PROM is too large for the device format you have chosen

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General Description: After adding your bitstreams to your Prom
Chain and splitting the stream into several devices the error
"The size of your PROM is too large for the device format you have
chosen." is displayed following the Split Prom Wizard.

Solution 1:

This is due to Prom file format limitations. To see a list of
limitations refer to solution 1278 at:
http://www.xilinx.com/techdocs/1278.htm

By looking at your total Daisy Chain bits and dividing that
number by 8 will give you the size of your Daisy Chain in Mbytes.
You can then compare your chain vs the maximum allowed in
the referenced solution. The EXOR and HEX formats can
support noticeably larger chain descriptions.
