Subject: Xilinx is making a change to the XC9500XL to improve
yields. This will require a change in the programming algorithm for XC9500XL
Family: XC9536XL, XC9572XL, XC95144XL, and XC95288XL.
Change Description: Xilinx is changing to a -02 on the
JTAG ID register. This code is read by JTAG Programmer and other third
party JTAG tools.
Additionally, the Product Code used by the HW-130 and third party programmers
has changed and are:
9536XL 30 Hex
9572XL 31 Hex
95144XL 32 Hex
95288XL 33 Hex
Product Change: This is a yield enhancement. It does not affect
any electrical characteristic of the devices with the exception of the
programming voltages. These voltages can only be accessed externally in
a special mode in a dedicated parallel programming environment such as
the Xilinx HW130, or programmers offered by manufacturers such as BP Microsystems
and Data I/O.
Reason for Change: Yield enhancement
Key Dates:
Product shipments began on August 19.
Shipments of older devices will continue until inventories are exhausted.
Response:
Users have different actions depending on the programming environment:
Xilinx HW-130 Programmer:
Software Version 4.63 (9/04/1999)
Available from the Xilinx ftp site at:
ftp://ftp.xilinx.com/pub/swhelp/programmer/hw130w32.exe
JTAGProgrammer:
1. Version M2.1i
OR
2. M1.5 (and later) with the new (Rev. 2.0) BSDL files installed. These
BSDL files can currently be found at:
http://www.xilinx.com/techdocs/htm_index/sw_bsdl.htm
The file name is 'xc9500xl.zip' and contains the following BSDL files
for this version of the silicon:
xc95144xl_v2.bsd
xc95288xl_v2.bsd
xc9536xl_v2.bsd
xc9572xl_v2.bsd
3rd Party Programmer Customers:
BP Microsystems - all programmers
Use Version 3.43
This software can be found at;
http://www.bpmicro.com/
Data-IO - Unisys family of programmers
The 'extended algorithm' software for the XC9500XL family will be posted
by 9/15/99 and will be available at;
ftp://ftp.data-io.com/dataio/betaalgs/59_9500xl.exe
OR
ftp://ftp.data-io.com/dataio/betaalgs/60_9500xl.exe
Other programmer vendors
If your customers are using other programmer vendors, please refer
to the appropriate vendor for support information.
ATE customers:
GenRad, Teradyne, HP3070, iFR:
No changes are required if the customer created the SVF files (which
are translated to the different ATE formats) using JTAGProgrammer version
M1.5 or greater.
If an earlier version of JTAGProgrammer was used to create the SVF files,
please upgrade to M2.1i (or M2.1i SP1) and re-generate the SVF files and
the tester vectors.
Embedded micro controller customers:
No changes are required if the customer created the SVF files (which
are translated to XSVF using the SVF2XSVF translator) using JTAGProgrammer
version M1.5 or greater.
If an earlier version of JTAGProgrammer was used to create the SVF files,
please upgrade to M2.1i (or M2.1i SP1) and regenerate the SVF and XSVF
files. |
