Product Change Notification PCN95010B
July 1, 1997
Subject: Process Change Notification (PCN95010B) -- An update to
PCN95010A (entitled "A New Manufacturer for
the Xilinx Serial Configuration PROM's & Obsolescence of the Existing
PROM Products.")
Products Affected: All members of the XC1700D and XC1700L families
of products.
Note: Please see PDN98004 for the latest
update on the XC1718 product - 6/26/98.
Change Description: Xilinx is establishing a new wafer fabrication
facility for the Xilinx Serial Configuration PROM's. The new wafer fabrication
facility is the Seiko wafer foundry in Fujimi, Japan. This update serves
as an advanced notification of Xilinx intent to make this change and to
establish this new product by the end of 1997. Parts from this facility
will carry the designation XC1700E and XC1700EL. They are form, fit, and
system compatible with the existing XC1700D and XC1700L devices, but will
require a software update to your programming algorithms.
Reason For Change: This foundry change is being made to give
Xilinx the ability to improve our future product roadmap and to facilitate
development of new (higher capacity) devices on an existing mainstream
process.
Key Dates: In response to requests from many of our customers,
we have again negotiated the continued availability of the XC1700D and
XC1700L product families well beyond the original last time buy (LTB) referenced
in PCN95010A (July 1, 1997). Xilinx can now
commit to the availability of this product line (XC1700D) for at least
the next 18 months, with last time buy (LTB) date of September 30, 1998
and last time ship (LTS) date of December 31, 1998. We have taken this
action to support our customers who have asked for additional time to manufacture
their products with the older technology.
Traceability: All existing XC1700D and XC1700L devices will eventually
be replaced by Seiko manufactured serial PROM's bearing the markings XC1700E
and XC1700EL respectively. An update on the availability of XC1700E
products will be issued by the end of 1997.
Xilinx will be working with third party programmer manufacturers as
well as distributors to ensure a smooth transition to the new products.
Immediate response to this notification is not required. For any questions
regarding this PCN you may contact Xilinx via email at "pcn@xilinx.com"
or by FAX at 408- 559-1368.
