FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 9, 1998—Showcasing the commitment to provide complete solutions including cores, evaluation boards, and specialized development software, Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX), along with five of its third-party intellectual property (IP) development partners, today announced the immediate availability of seven new products in the Xilinx AllianceCORE program. The products address the computing and communications markets with predefined communications, RISC processor, and processor peripheral cores and board-level evaluation tools for prototyping FPGA-based system designs. Also, Xilinx has begun shipping the new edition of the CORE Solutions Data Book with detailed descriptions of over 115 cores and core-based development tools. "As the performance and density leader in programmable logic, we are seeing a tremendous demand for complex cores to target our devices," said Rich Sevcik, Xilinx senior vice president of software. "Intellectual property companies have realized this demand and have responded by optimizing and enabling their cores for Xilinx FPGAs to provide time to market advantages for our mutual customers." New AllianceCORE Partners' Products The seven new products announced today are from VAutomation, Inc. (Nashua, N.H.), Integrated Silicon Systems Ltd. (Belfast, Northern Ireland), Virtual IP Group, Inc. (Sunnyvale, Calif.), Memec Design Services (Mesa, Ariz.), and NMI Electronics Ltd. (Halesowen, England). VAutomation "VAutomation has always depended on Xilinx FPGAs for prototyping our cores," said Eric Ryherd, president of VAutomation. "The Xilinx architecture, specifically its highly optimized dual-port RAM capability, was key in the development of our V8 FPGA core and allowed us to silicon test our cores much faster than would be possible using a standard ASIC flow." Integrated Silicon Systems T1 Framer and 8237 Direct Memory Access (DMA) controller cores are available
