Step 1: Register
on the Xilinx site.
(If you already have an account on the Xilinx site go to Step 2.)
Please note that your Xilinx Student Edition license will be sent to
you via email to the email address indicated during registration.
Step 2: Generate your Xilinx
Student Edition license.
To generate a license you will need the software SERIAL NUMBER and
PC "Host ID or Ethernet Address. The PC "Host ID" must
be the C: drive serial number or the Ethernet Address of the PC on which
you will install the Xilinx Student Edition software. The software
may be installed on any available drive but the license must be generated
and installed on the C: drive.
To get the PC volume c: drive serial number; From the DOS prompt, type
in: VOL C:
To get the ethernet (mac) address; For Windows NT users, type
in on the command line: IPCONFIG/ALL. You can also use the IP address.
To find this, do a right click on the "Network Neighborhood" icon,
then go to properties, protocols, properties and you'll find your IP address.
To run your software you will need both the software CD KEY
and LICENSE file. See specific book below for
the location of software serial number and CD key.

Xilinx Student Edition Package: CD KEY is located on page
3 of the CD jewel case insert (Install Guide). The software
serial number can be found on the lower right hand corner of the "Discount
Coupon" included with the package.
