SAN JOSE, Calif., July 15, 1999—Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) issued a challenge to the high technology community in Silicon Valley to get actively involved in the Santa Clara County Walk for AIDS '99. Xilinx will host a kick-off rally for corporate sponsors, team captains and local AIDS assistance agencies from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday July 29 at the Xilinx San Jose campus, 2100 Logic Drive near Union Avenue and Highway 85. Companies that want to send representatives to the kick-off rally should RSVP by calling the Santa Clara County Walk for AIDS at (408) 451-9255. Information on the various ways companies can get involved, including team sponsorships or donations of cash, services or equipment, will be distributed at the rally. Information is also available on the Web at www.walkforaids.org. The Walk, which will mark its tenth anniversary this October, is an important source of funds for 10 non-profit agencies in Santa Clara County that provide direct assistance to individuals with HIV/AIDS. Last year the walk raised $275,000. Wim Roelandts, CEO of Xilinx, and Aart de Geus, president and CEO of Synopsys, recently sent a joint letter to chief executives at 250 leading high technology companies in Silicon Valley urging their participation in this year's walk and inviting them to the kick-off rally. Xilinx has been a corporate sponsor of the Walk for AIDS for the last seven years. "To reach this year's ambitious goal, it will be necessary to involve many more Silicon Valley companies and their employees," Roelandts said. "I challenge my fellow CEOs to attend this kick-off rally personally, or to send representatives to learn how we, together, can make an extraordinary impact on our own community."
