SAN JOSE, Calif., July 27, 1998 -- Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX), today announced the appointment of Kris Chellam as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Chellam, 47, joins Xilinx from Atmel Corp., where he most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of a product group. He joined Atmel, a San Jose-based semiconductor company, in September 1991 as vice president, finance and administration, and chief financial officer. He served in that position until his move earlier this year. From 1979 until 1991, Chellam worked in a variety of financial management positions at Intel Corp. in both Europe and the United States. At Xilinx, Chellam will be responsible for all aspects of finance and
investor relations. He will report to Xilinx president and CEO Wim Roelandts.
Chellam succeeds Gordon Steel, who announced his intention to retire in
April. Steel will continue to consult during the transition.
