SAN JOSE, Calif., May 2, 1997--Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX), the world leader in CMOS programmable logic devices, today announced the official opening of a new, expanded software development center in Boulder, Colo.

The 60,000 square foot building is four times the size of the former facility and has enough room for Xilinx to increase its Colorado software staff to more than 200 employees through future expansion. Currently 75 Xilinx employees work in Boulder.

"The opening of the new Xilinx Boulder facility underscores the importance of software to the company’s continued leadership in the programmable logic market," said Kenn Perry, managing director, Xilinx Boulder.

"The majority of Xilinx Boulder employees have worked in Boulder for over a decade. Thus, staying within the community was a priority in the location selection of a new facility. We chose Boulder—and the Flatirons Industrial Park in particular—due to its access to alternate means of transportation such as bike paths and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) public bus lines, used by many local Xilinx employees," continued Perry.

Perry said that although the initial focus of the site will be centered around the delivery of industry-leading software solutions and world-class manufacturing capabilities, there are plans to expand the charter of the site to include semiconductor development and other strategic programs in the future.
