XILINX APPOINTS NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF CPLD BUSINESS UNIT
SAN JOSE, Calif., December 10, 1996 -- Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced the appointment of Evert Wolsheimer as general manager of the company's complex programmable logic device (CPLD) Business Unit. Wolsheimer replaces Nick Kucharewski, who has resigned from Xilinx to pursue other interests.
Wolsheimer will oversee all aspects of the CPLD Business Unit, including product design, operations, product planning and software processes. Wolsheimer previously served as vice president of product technology and was responsible for semiconductor foundry relationships, process and package technology development, and product engineering and reliability. Earlier he served as senior director of product development. He joined Xilinx in 1991 as director of technology development.
Before joining Xilinx, Wolsheimer was manager of technology development at LSI Logic and earlier held several R&D and marketing management positions at Philips. He earned his doctorate in electrical engineering from Delft University in the Netherlands. He has three US patents at Xilinx and has published numerous papers for industry conferences and technical trade journals.
Kucharewski had served as vice president and general manager of the CPLD division since joining Xilinx in 1992. He played a key role managing the acquisition and assimilation of Plus Logic into Xilinx and launching the company's XC7000 and XC9000 CPLD families.
"Nick made many contributions to Xilinx and we wish him well in his new endeavors," said Wim Roelandts, president and CEO of Xilinx. "Going forward, I'm confident that Evert's extensive industry knowledge and management skills will ensure the continued success and growth of our CPLD division."
