Siemens IT-DL has worldwide design services capability to support customers in the development of digital products.  During the past five years, Siemens has provided over two hundred customers with extensive software and hardware design capabilities.  Beginning in 1999, Siemens will add new tools and services to facilitate the design of IRL-based products.  These products have the ability to be field upgraded via networks such as the Internet.  IRL allows both software and hardware to be dynamically reconfigured by simply sending Java applets over network facilities. 

Xilinx today announced the introduction of Internet Reconfigurable Logic utilizing new software tools called JBits together with Virtex FPGAs.  Virtex FPGAs are available immediately and JBits tools will be in beta in the first quarter of 1999.
