Problem Title:
FPGA/CPLD/PROM: Markings: What are the Device/Package Markings for Xilinx Devices?

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General description: What do the each of the package markings on a
Xilinx device represent?

On Dec. 26, 1995 Product change notificatoin (PCN) 95013 was issued acknowledging a change to the Xi linx standard for Package marking. See:

        http://www.xilinx.com/partinfo/notify/pcn9513.htm

Solution 1:

Serial PROMs manufactured at Nippon-Denso, has following markings:

Line 1: Date code in the format YYWW where YY is the last two
digits of the calendar year and WW is the work week of
that year. Assembly sublot within the same week may be
differentiated by the alpha character following the
date code sequentially starting with A for the first
sublot of the week. Date codes without the alphabet
designator imply that there was only one lot that week.

Line 2: The second line shall consist of the product name (XC
excluded) with or without a Temperature Range Code
appended. Commercial products may be marked with or
      without the "C" temp range.

Line 3: The last line will have shadowed "X" for Xilinx logo
followed by "JAPAN" for country of origin.

Solution 2:

6/15/96 : the template for the xilinx device marking is :

  / 7\'7
   \ \ ` \/ | | | |\ | \/ R
   / / /\ | |_ | | \| /\
   \_\/.\

   XC4003E
   PC84BSG9610
   X09856M

   3C

Line 1 : Device name with trade mark and trade mark registered status.

Line2 : Package type and pin count (PC84), circuit design
revision (B), the location code for the wafer fab (S), the
geometry code (G), date code (9610).

Line 3 : 7 alpha numeric characters : Assembly, Lot, and
Mark numbers.

Line 4 : Device speed (3), temperature range (C). If a grade is
not marked on the package the product will be considered a
commercial grade.

Solution 3:

Serial PROMS - TOP Marking

08/96 the Top marking template is :

      1765DPC
        \\/ 242789
        //\

Line 1 : Product Name Code : 8 Characters, the 5 or 6 (1765D)
characters shall designate the Product name without the
'XC'. The product name is followed by the single
character Prom package designator. The last letter is
       temperature range (eg: M, I, C).

Line 2 : 6 numerics character preceded by the 'X' in the Xilinx
Logo. The first numeric character after the 'X' shall
designate the last digit of the year in which the
product was assembled, the next 2 numeric character
shall serve as the work-week identifier. The 3 last
characters are the last 3 digits of the Ingres Assembly
      number for the lot.

Line 3: Is usually left blank for cusotmer PROM designator
      marking.

Solution 4:

For 1700E/L proms:

The package markings will be like so:

17xx<D> <V> <C>

With D = E for E type parts or X for EL type parts
       V = Package type
       C = Operating range.
