Record #6559

Product Family: Software

Product Line: Coregen

Product Part: Coregen

Product Version: 2.1i

Problem Title:
V2.1i COREGEN: "ERROR: Could not locate specified browser /usr/local/bin/acroread" / Cannot launch Web browser & Acroread from COREGEN on HP

Problem Description:
COREGEN cannot launch user's Web browser (neither Netscape nor Internet
Explorer) from the CoreGen GUI.

The following error is reported on the browser:

"ERROR: Could not locate specified browser /home/username/temp/bin/iexplorer"

For Acroread :

"ERROR: Could not locate specified browser /usr/local/bin/acroread"

The errors are reported even though the reported paths are correct for the browser and PDF viewer applications.

The problem is due to a problem on HP with the exec command and a
memory handling limitation on HP systems associated with the HP version
of JAVA. It typically appears when the system is overloaded
with too many users and/or jobs.

Solution 1:

To avoid this problem, try to limit the number of users and/or jobs on an HP
system.
