Product Change Notification PCN95010A
June 28, 1996
Subject: Process Change Notification (PCN95010A) -- An update to PCN95010 (entitled "A New Manufacturer for the Xilinx Serial Configuration PROM's & Obsolescence of the Existing PROM Products.") Products Affected: All members of the XC1700D and XC1700L families of products. Note: Please see PDN98004 for the latest
update on the XC1718 product - 6/26/98.
Change Description: Xilinx intends to establish a new wafer fabrication facility for the Xilinx Serial Configuration PROM's. The new wafer fabrication facility is the Seiko wafer foundry in Fujimi, Japan. Parts from this facility will carry the designation XC1700E and XC1700EL. They are form, fit, and system compatible with the existing XC1700D and XC1700L devices, but will require a software update to your programming algorithms. Reason For Change: This foundry change is being made to give Xilinx the ability to improve our future product roadmap and to facilitate development of new devices on an existing mainstream process. Key Dates: In response to requests from many of our customers, we have negotiated the continued availability of the XC1700D and XC1700L product families well beyond the original last order date referenced in PCN95010 (July 1, 1996). Xilinx can now commit to the availability of this product line for at least the next 18 months, with last time buy currently estimated to be July 1, 1997. We have taken this action to support our customers who have asked for additional time to manage this transition. We always try to provide our customers with as much advanced notice of change as possible. Note: Please see PCN95010B for an update
on the Last Time Buy and Last Time Ship dates - 7/1/97. Xilinx will be working with third party programmer manufacturers as
well as distributors to ensure a smooth transition to the new products.
Immediate response to this notification is not required. For any questions
regarding this PCN you may contact Xilinx via email at "pcn@xilinx.com"
