First Principles Technology (FPTek) is a Maryland company with offices
in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Cupertino, California. FPTek is staffed by executives
and engineers from the North American electronics industry. We are a team dedicated
to quality, timely, cost effective work in state of the art electronics in a number
of business areas. We draw on a wide range of skills and contacts from the United
States and Canada. We can assemble teams from one to twenty people for business contracts.
Our business objective is to excel in the electronics consulting business delivering
whole solutions to complex problems. First Principles Corp. prides itself on having
some of the best brains in the industry. For example, our hardware team has over
35 patents for circuit design. Our software engineers have been selected from the
satellite communications industry and are leaders in their field. Our capabilities
extend beyond those available through traditional hardware and software consulting
companies.
Specialization
FPTek provides design services in the following areas:
- Complex systems design comprising impedance controlled PCBs, mixed signal custom
analog IC’s, cutting-edge FPGAs, ultra-high speed memory interfaces and DSP/uController
embedded control.
- Mixed Signal transistor-level ASIC design. Bipolar, BiCMOS and CMOS. From 50
devices to 300,000 devices on chip.
- Significant experience in Sigma Delta converters up to 20 bits resolution and
20 bits linearity.
- Low-noise, high-speed board-level analog and digital design.
- FPGA design. State machines, memory interfaces, ALU functions, timing analysis,
back annotation simulations.
- Embedded controllers with both assembly coding and high-level languages.
- Very high-speed serial communications and data transmission.
- Advanced board layout techniques for low inductance and high speed.
- Image readout methods and pipelined image processing.
Software Capabilities:
- Management of customers, deliverables and resources
- Management of software development teams
- Proposal writing, content negotiation, costing, staffing
- Extensive experience in real time embedded systems

- Satellite modem systems.
- DSP Signal processing with real time data acquisition
