Product Change Notification PCN96008

1 October, 1996

Subject: Product Change Notification (PCN96008). "An Evolutionary Change in the Xilinx XC4000/D Fabrication Process."

Products Affected: All XC4000/D Products (except Military B-grade and SMD Products)

Change Description: The above products are currently manufactured in a 10% shrink of 0.8µM two-metal CMOS process at Seiko, a 0.6µM two-metal CMOS process at Seiko, and a 0.65µM two-metal CMOS process at Yamaha.

Product Change: Xilinx plans to produce the XC4000 family in the 0.5µM three-metal CMOS process currently available and qualified at both Seiko and UMC.

Reason For Change: This change is being made to continue the Xilinx program of evolutionary price reductions.

Qualification Data: Device qualification data on the XC4005 and XC4013 fabricated in the 0.5µM three-level process at Seiko and the XC4013 and XC4025 fabricated in the 0.5µM three-level process at UMC is attached to this notice. Additional data on other family members will be released as it becomes available. This change may affect a very small number of applications. Please see the Xilinx Customer Update (XCU 099602) for details.

Traceability: The product marking code can be used to determine the mask generation of a particular product. Product fabricated in the Seiko 0.5M three-metal CMOS process carries the geometry code "M". Product fabricated in the UMC 0.5µM three-metal CMOS process carries the geometry code "M". Please contact your sales representative if you wish a copy of IVC0015, which lists these production fab and geometry codes.

Key Dates: Qualification samples of the XC4005, XC4013, and XC4025 manufactured with this process are available today. Contact your Xilinx sales representative for information on how to order. The dates for Last Time Buy (LTB) and Last Time Ship (LTS) of the older generation (non three-level metal) products are 30 September 1997 and 30 March 1998 respectively.

Response: No response to this notification is required. Requests for additional data or support should be made within 90 days of notification. Please address any questions you may have via email to "pcn@xilinx.com", or by fax at 408 559 1368.
