Subject: Process Change Notification (PCN97007) -- Conversion of Xilinx MIL-STD-883 Military Products to QML

Products Affected: All XC3000, XC3100A , and XC4000 Military Products

Change Description: All Xilinx SMD products are being converted to QML marking. This is a marking change only. The "M" contained in the part marking will be changed to a "Q". The part number therefore is affected. As a result of this change all MIL-STD-883 qualified products being purchased as non-SMD parts will be converted to SMD numbers only (and hence to QML). This latter change is for procurement purposes only.

Product Change: There are no changes in electrical or mechanical specifications.

Reason For Change: Xilinx received Transitional Certification to MIL-PRF-38538 Appendix E (QML) from DESC effective 20 November 1996. As part of being a transitional QML supplier, Xilinx is converting all of its Military products to QML. Xilinx parts contain dual marking, that is both the SMD number and the Xilinx part number are marked. As part of this conversion, Xilinx will no longer accept orders for parts ordered as the Xilinx part number only. All future orders must be placed as an SMD number. Attached is a cross reference index.

Key Dates: The change in Xilinx status is effectively immediately. The marking change will take effect on 15 July 1997. Orders for non-SMD product will not be accepted after that date..
