    Here is an idea for cleaning up a noisy clock without resorting to an additional external gate or using an additional internal clock. Here is a proven and simple Schmitt Trigger solution that costs one extra pin. Use the extra pin to be an uninverted output driven by the input that you want to clean up. Then connect a 10 Kohm resistor from this output to the input you want to clean up. Effectively, you have created a latch with a weak feedback. Now drive the input through a 1 Kohm series resistor. This gives you a hysteresis of 10% of the supply voltage. You can change the absolute and relative resistor values to suit your application.
