XILINX AND INSIGHT ELECTRONICS SYNCHRONIZE VALUE CHAIN PROCESSES WITH ROSETTANET

SAN JOSE, Calif. – October 10, 2000 – Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) and Insight Electronics, a Memec company, paved the way for increasingly tight value chain integration when they executed in production a RosetttaNet Partner Interface Process (PIP) that exchanges Xilinx Product Catalog with Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs). This first RosettaNet exchange is reference data for aligning the companies’ demand creation business processes.

“Insight, as one of our key distributors, is a shining star at demand creation,” said Jane Vaillancourt, senior director of worldwide sales operations at Xilinx. “Business-to-business communication with RosettaNet will allow each company to execute its individual best-of-class business processes, yet improve performance with our mutual customers by synchronizing the value chain, sharing information and linking our processes.”

Xilinx implemented RosettaNet using the Business Connect platform from TIBCO Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX). The challenge in business-to-business (B2B) communication is not the technical message exchange with the partner but rather the alignment of business processes among the trading partners and the B2B message integration with each company’s baseline applications. The Xilinx B2B architecture focuses on Enterprise Application Integration to ensure repeatability and scalability.

“We focused on implementing the B2B infrastructure that we plan to live with, both with Insight, and with our other value chain partners,” said Sandy Sully, CIO at Xilinx and a member of the RosettaNet Electronic Components Board. “We expect to rapidly scale this platform with additional trading partners, and additional PIPs.”
