XILINX APPOINTS NEW GENERAL COUNSEL 
 

SAN JOSE, Calif., August 2, 1999—Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced the appointment of Thomas R. Lavelle to the position of vice president and general counsel. 

Lavelle comes to Xilinx after spending more than 15 years at Intel Corp. He began there in 1983 and held various positions of increasing responsibility in the Intel legal department, handling treasury, securities, technology licensing, antitrust enforcement and litigation activities. From 1993-1999, he served as group counsel for a number of Intel organizations, including sales and marketing, technology and manufacturing, computing enhancement, corporate matters and securities. 

Lavelle interrupted his career with Intel briefly in 1992-1993 to work as vice president and general counsel for NeXT, Inc. 

Lavelle earned his J.D. degree from the University of Santa Clara School of Law and his bachelor's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.
