XILINX LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE FOR JAPANESE MARKET

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 30, 1998—Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX), today went on-line with a new version of the company’s Worldwide Web site tailored in Japanese to better serve the local market.

The first of its kind in the industry, the WebLINX-J site is a mirror of the complete, award-winning English language Xilinx site—WebLINX. Japanese users can access WebLINX-J directly from a Kanji button on the main Xilinx web site at www.xilinx.com, or by entering the URL of the new site: www.xilinx.co.jp.

Xilinx is the only programmable logic company to have dedicated a separate site for Japanese customers. All navigation pages as well as selected content on WebLINX-J have been translated into Japanese, allowing users to quickly browse the site and locate detailed information. Visitors to WebLINX-J also have access to SmartSearch, the industry's best programmable logic search engine, as well as the Xilinx Answers database which contains answers to the most frequently asked questions.

WebLINX-J also features additional links to existing Web-based information in Japanese of specific interest to the Japanese market such as press releases, company financial information and local newsletters, articles, career opportunities and training seminars.

"WebLINX-J greatly enhances our current capability of providing information in Japanese over the Worldwide Web for the local market," said Hiroyuki Takasaki, president of Xilinx K.K., the company’s Tokyo-based subsidiary. "Now Japanese designers can have native language access to the full content of Xilinx Web site, making it much easier and faster for them to find the information they need about Xilinx products."

The WebLINX site has been recognized for its innovation and technical excellence, particularly for its SmartSearch capability. SmartSearch permits users to search the Web sites of Xilinx, EDA software developers, trade publications, journals, electronics distributors, universities, design consultants and industry organizations for specific information on programmable logic.

Xilinx is the leading innovator of complete programmable logic solutions, including advanced integrated circuits, software design tools, predefined system functions delivered as cores, and unparalleled field engineering support. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in San Jose, Calif., Xilinx invented the field programmable gate array (FPGA) and commands more than half of the world market for these devices today. Xilinx solutions enable customers to reduce significantly the time required to develop products for the computer, peripheral, telecommunications, networking, industrial control, instrumentation, high-reliability/military, and consumer markets.
