FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

XILINX AND MAYOR GONZALES URGE MORE CORPORATE SUPPORT OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY WALK FOR AIDS 2000

Walk raises annual fundraising goal to $1 million

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 31, 2000- Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) and San José Mayor Ron
Gonzales issued a challenge today to the high technology community of Silicon Valley urging
increased support of the Santa Clara County Walk For AIDS. The Walk recently increased its
annual fundraising goal to $1 million this year, up from $400,000 last year.

To help meet this goal, Walk red ribbon sponsor Xilinx and Mayor Gonzales are co-hosting a
Walk kick-off rally on Thursday, August 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Xilinx San José
campus, 2050 Logic Drive near Union Avenue and Highway 85. Companies that want to send
representatives to the kick-off rally should RSVP by calling (408) 879-6908 or by email at
 walk@best.com.

The kick-off rally will bring together corporate, community and nonprofit leaders to identify ways
to increase funding and participation in the Walk. This year’s Walk honorary co-chairs Mayor
Gonzales and Wim Roelandts, president and CEO of Xilinx, recently sent a letter to over 400
Silicon Valley CEOs urging their companies to sponsor the Walk and inviting them to attend the
 kick-off rally.

“I urge my colleagues to support and participate in a cause that makes an extraordinary impact
towards local education and prevention of this deadly disease,” said Roelandts. “By working
together, we can help the Walk reach its fundraising goal of $1 million and build a Walk that truly
reflects the success of Silicon Valley.”

"The Walk for AIDS is a walk for a better life for people in our community," said Mayor Ron
Gonzales.  "The more successful the Walk is, the more we can do more to treat and prevent
HIV/AIDS, and to improve the quality of life for people and their families who must bear the
 burden of this terrible disease."

The Walk benefits nine local organizations providing HIV/AIDS services and prevention
education to more than 30,000 Santa Clara County residents annually.

“The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported that HIV infection rates and
risky behavior on the part of youth has increased,” said Jason da Cunha, executive director of the
Walk For AIDS.  “Now more than ever, we must aggressively support local education and
prevention programs to keep infection rates down.”

Walk For AIDS 2000 will be held on Sunday, October 22 at 9:00 a.m. in downtown San José.
