XILINX EXTENDS ITS INTERNET LEADERSHIP WITH NEW
E-COMMERCE PRESENCE
Silicon XpressoÔ Cafe delivers powerful tools on-line directly to the design engineer's desktop with global, 24/7 access to Xilinx solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 14, 1999—XilinxÒ , Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) announced today the availability of software products on their recently deployed e-commerce site, the Silicon Xpresso Cafe. The Cafe delivers global, 24/7 access to Xilinx solutions on-line providing an additional means for design engineers to obtain development tools and programming hardware. Included in the initial offerings are Xilinx Alliance SeriesÔ and Foundation SeriesÔ software, Xilinx CPLD WebPACKÔ and WebFITTERÔ tools, as well as hardware supporting the design process such as the new USB-ready MultiLINXÔ download cable.

"Designers can now conveniently obtain the latest releases of the advanced design solutions from their desktops anytime of day and from anywhere in the world," said Kenn Perry, senior director of Software Marketing. "The launch of the Silicon Xpresso Cafe further extends our leadership position in the area of Internet-enabled design by supporting the desktop purchasing environments of today's networked economy."

Complementing existing sales channels

Xilinx customers who purchase their tools on-line can expect the same high level of service they would receive if they purchased the product from a Xilinx sales partner. The design of the Silicon Xpresso Cafe complements the existing Xilinx sales channel by offering visitors the ability to select a supporting Xilinx distributor. Once a customer submits the e-commerce site order, the appropriate Xilinx sales partner is contacted so that any additional project-related requirements are addressed.

On-line access to the industry's leading Internet-enabled design solutions

The 2.1i versions of the Alliance Series and Foundation Series software enable designers to deliver high performance digital designs on time and to specification. The combination of fast design compile times and the Xilinx cores offering can significantly reduce a project's time-to-market. Highlights of this latest release include support for the industry's first two–million gate FPGA, double the design compile time improvement, support for Xilinx Internet Team DesignÔ (ITD), advanced high-level design support using cores, and advanced synthesis technology using FPGA Express v3.2 from Synopsys. All configurations of both the Alliance Series and Foundation Series software are now available at the Silicon Xpresso Cafe

The Xilinx CPLD Web-powered solutions include the WebFITTER tool, an on-line device fitting and evaluation tool, and the WebPACK, free downloadable software solutions for designing and implementing Xilinx XC9500Ô or CoolRunnerÔ CPLD series. Through the Silicon Xpresso Cafe users can easily access these complete tool sets for CPLD design.
