When you want to draw a line with multiple contiguous segments, use the polyline tool. The line you draw adopts the current line style. Polygons can be created with the polyline tool; these polygons adopt the current fill style. For information on setting the line style, see Creating Graphics.
Drawing polylines behaves like placing wires. Polylines automatically default to drawing with square corners. You can draw non-orthogonal polylines by holding SHIFT while you draw.
To draw a polyline
- From the Place menu, choose the Polyline command.
- Click the left mouse button to begin drawing, click to change directions, and double-click to end the final segment.
To constrain the direction changes to multiples of 90 degrees, pressSHIFT
. After you double-click, the polyline appears in the selection color. - Click an area where there are no parts or objects to deselect the polyline.
- Select the selection tool or press
ESC
to dismiss the polyline tool.
To draw a polygon
- Follow the above-listed instructions, ending the line with a single mouse-button click at the beginning point. The polygon adopts the current line and fill style.
