We will be covering the notes from March 31 on JavaScript. It might be helpful for you to also review the JavaScript tutorial from the WebMonkey site. Specifically, see Lesson 1 and pages 1 through 4 and 8 and 9 of Lesson 2.
The topic for Monday's class has been changed slightly. It was brought to my attention that the requirements for the project include the use of cascading style sheets. Unfortunately, I had not included a discussion of style sheets in the list of lectures. To remedy that, Monday's lecture is on cascading style sheets, the notes for which can be found here.
In addition, we will be doing the face-to-face prototyping discussions. These will be held during the last hour of class. While your team is waiting for your meeting with me, you will be free to spend time in the lab doing development, having a team meeting, or working on the style sheets exercise that is included in the above notes.
Lastly, I have posted the four CSCI syllabi that I have at the following URLs:
All of these files are in Microsoft Word format, so you will need to use Word to open them.
In case you need to use them to study for the test Monday, I've posted the answer key to the quiz on tables and a PDF version of the six phases lecture from the lecture on the 10th of March.
I've posted the official details of the class project. If you were not in class last Monday, then you will also need to know your team assignments. Click here to find them.
I noticed that the reading assignments in the syllabus are wrong, mostly because of the lack of availability of the Fleming text. To remove any confusion, just be sure to read the site design chapter from the Yale Web Style Guide by Monday's class (March 3rd). We will also be covering the design process, but since the Fleming text is no longer available, we will have to present the information in class. We will also be introducing this semester's project.
I've provided some additional helpful hints for your test Monday. They include the list of tags that I will be including with the test for you to use in programming.
Remember to use the e-mail list if you need help. My schedule this weekend is rather erratic, so I can't guarantee when I can answer your questions. Try to answer each others questions if you feel confident about your answers.
Welcome to class! For those of you who have been in one of my classes before, you know this drill. As trivial as it may seem, I need you to e-mail me (tarnoffetsu.edu) from the e-mail account that you check regularly. In your message, you must tell me whether you wish to be added to our e-mail list (courtesy of Yahoo!) or not. This list will provide you with:
Please send me an e-mail before the second class period. Once you have been added to the list, you should get a confirmation notice from Yahoo! stating that you've been added. If you do not receive this message within two days of sending me your e-mail address, please send another e-mail to me. ETSU's e-mail system has been notoriously bad for the past year.
This assignment must be completed by the end of the first week of class!
